| Key Finding 2: Despite increases in First Amendment classes from 2004 through 2006, nearly three-fourths of students still don’t know how they feel about the First Amendment, or take it for granted.
Currently, 68% of students say they’ve taken a class that dealt with the First Amendment, and 26% of teachers indicate that have taught such a class. Some of the increase in First Amendment education that occurred between 2004 and 2006 has been lost over the past year.

Students still say they don’t care much about the First Amendment. In 2007, only a quarter of the nation’s students personally think about the First Amendment, while 38% say they take it for granted.
